Routine out-door, in-door and emergency services include:

• Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies
• Routine upper and lower gastrointestinal tract-endoscopy
• Endoscopic removal of large common bile duct calculi
• Placement of metal stents for palliation of esophageal, Gastro-duodenal, Biliary, Pancreatic and Colorectal cancers
• Routine hepato-biliary and pancreatic surgeries.
• Pancreatic endotherapy such as pancreatic stone removal and pancreatic stenting, endoscopic pseudocyst drainage
• GI hemostasis is achieved by hemoclips, bipolar electo-coagulation, argon plasma coagulation, variceal band ligation, endoloop
• Endoscopic mucuosal resection

Chromoendoscopy

Endoscopic treatment for gastro-esophageal reflux disease is also done.

About the Department

It has two oncosurgeons with regional specialisation. They are trained in the best cancer institutions in India and abroad and off excellent services in their respective fields.

Facilities & Services

Since cancer treatment is multimodal, each surgeon co-ordinates with medical oncology and radiation oncology departments and hence each patient gets comprehensive care of a high standard. There is excellent teamwork to carry out all complicated cancer surgeries of version sites. Specialised onco-pathologist is available for possible frozen section to facilitate appropriate action on the operation table. Cancer surgeries performed on various sites includes:-

Head and neck

• Partial and radical surgeries for cancer tongue and buccal mucosa alongwith necessary reconstruction and microvascular reconstruction with the help of reconstructive surgeon.
• Partial or total laryngectomy, pharyngectomy along with reconstruction.
• Necessary reconstruction by a specialised surgeon who does it by using various usual flaps and micro vascular flaps and bowel segments.

Thorax

• Lobectomy, pneumonectomy and surgery for mediastinal tumours
• Partial or total oesophagectomy for cancer oesophagus with gastric pull up in suitable patients.

Breast

• Conservative mastectomy, modified radical mastectomy with immediate or delayed reconstruction of breast.
